Activities, trips and making friends are all part of what makes it so much fun for girls and boys. As well as earning activity badges, many Beavers Scouts get to go on camps and sleepovers, often for the first time. Beaver Scouts like:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Being creative \u2013 making things and singing<\/li>\n<li>Playing games<\/li>\n<li>Going on visits and investigating nature<\/li>\n<li>Learning about themselves<\/li>\n<li>Getting to know other people<\/li>\n<li>Discovering the worlds of science, nature and technology<\/li>\n<li>Exploring the natural and manmade world<\/li>\n<li>Caring \u2013 responding to the needs of others, the local and international community<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Cubs<\/h3>\n<p>Cub Scouts enjoy new adventures while making new friends along the way. Their commitment is recognised by over thirty activity badges. As well as regular weekly meeting, Cub Scouts also enjoy activity days, weekend camps and pack holidays. Boys and girls:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Go camping<\/li>\n<li>Play games<\/li>\n<li>Explore the outdoors<\/li>\n<li>Try adventurous activities \u2013 such as climbing, sailing and archery<\/li>\n<li>Meet people from their local community<\/li>\n<li>Experience the culture of other countries<\/li>\n<li>Keep themselves and others safe<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Scouts<\/h3>\n<p>What don\u2019t Scouts do? At this age, we encourage girls and boys to take responsibility for themselves and each other, with older members leading a small team. They like being with friends and participating fully in the adventure of life. In the Troop Scouts:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop leadership skills<\/li>\n<li>Learn emergency aid<\/li>\n<li>Spend nights away \u2013 the summer camp is often the highlight of the year<\/li>\n<li>Help others in the community<\/li>\n<li>Cook, both at home and at camp<\/li>\n<li>Adventurous and sporting activities \u2013 anything from abseiling to zorbing<\/li>\n<li>Learn survival skills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Explorers<\/h3>\n<p>Let\u2019s face it, by the age of 14, most young people know what they want. Explorer Scouts therefore have a big say in what they do, while being supported by adult volunteers. Unit members:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Get to try activities such as power boating, sailing, snow and motor sports<\/li>\n<li>Deliver campsite services \u2013 running activities or helping with site maintenance<\/li>\n<li>Fundraise and help in the community<\/li>\n<li>Go on camping expeditions in the UK and abroad<\/li>\n<li>Go for The Queen\u2019s Scout Award, Duke of Edinburgh Bronze, Silver and Gold and the Explorer Belt (a 10 day challenge abroad) \u2013 all recognised by universities and employers<\/li>\n<li>Train as young leaders \u2013 working with an experienced adult, they learn how to run activities for young people aged 6 \u2013 14.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Beavers<br \/>\nWhat\u2019s the best thing about Beaver Scouts?
